House Cleaning Prices in Toronto & the GTA: One-Time, Weekly and Biweekly Costs

Updated: 4 days ago
House cleaning prices in Toronto and the GTA depend on the size of your home, its condition, the cleaning checklist and how often you book. For a useful comparison, look at both the price per visit and the amount you will spend over a month or year. A lower per-visit rate does not necessarily mean a lower household bill.
At Sparkle & Scrub Cleaners, biweekly standard cleaning starts at $141.95 for a one-bedroom apartment or condo, $158.95 for a two-bedroom and $175.10 for a three-bedroom home, before HST. One-time deep cleaning is priced separately, while weekly pricing depends on your home and agreed scope.
This guide explains the published starting rates, how to budget for recurring visits and which details to check before accepting a quote.
How Much Does House Cleaning Cost in Toronto and the GTA?
Our standard cleaning service starts at the following biweekly rates. Your confirmed quote reflects your home’s size, condition and agreed cleaning scope.
Home type | Biweekly starting price per visit | Per visit with 13% HST |
One-bedroom apartment or condo | $141.95 | $160.40 |
Two-bedroom home | $158.95 | $179.61 |
Three-bedroom home | $175.10 | $197.86 |
All amounts are in Canadian dollars. Starting prices are a reference point; confirm the quote for your bathrooms, layout, condition and selected rooms. A finished basement or additional bathroom should be identified when requesting your price.
What Does the Starting Price Cover?
Standard cleaning maintains a home that is already in reasonably clean condition. It addresses routine kitchen and bathroom cleaning, accessible dusting, vacuuming and mopping. It is not a substitute for detailed work on accumulated grease, neglected baseboards or other buildup.
When comparing quotes, ask whether both providers are pricing the same service. A maintenance visit and a first deep clean have different checklists, even when they cover the same home.
One-Time House Cleaning: Standard Clean or Deep Clean?
“One-time” describes the booking frequency, not the depth of cleaning. You might need a routine visit before guests arrive, or a more thorough clean after months of accumulated dirt. Explain the condition of the home so the service can be matched to the work.
One-Time Standard Cleaning
If your home is well maintained and you want help with routine tasks, ask for a one-time standard-cleaning quote. Do not assume the advertised biweekly price also applies to a single appointment.
For example, a tidy condo that needs bathrooms, kitchen surfaces and floors cleaned before a gathering may need a different scope from a home with sticky cabinet fronts, dusty door frames and neglected bathroom fixtures.
One-Time Deep Cleaning

Our deep cleaning service publishes these starting prices:
Home type | Deep-cleaning starting price | Starting total with HST |
Studio or bachelor unit | $207.00 | $233.91 |
Two-bedroom apartment or condo | $282.00 | $318.66 |
Three-bedroom house | $301.00 | $340.13 |
Deep cleaning adds detail such as accessible baseboards, door frames, window sills and frames, and other tasks defined in the booking. Oven and fridge interiors, cabinet interiors and window panes are extras to discuss, rather than items to assume are included.
Your final quote depends on the agreed rooms, condition and extras. A home with substantial buildup may need more work than the starting package allows.
Budget for the First Visit Separately
If the home needs a deep clean before recurring service begins, separate that initial cost from the maintenance budget.
For illustration, a two-bedroom home qualifying for the published starting rates could have the following first-month plan:
Appointment | Before HST |
One initial deep clean | $282.00 |
Two subsequent standard visits at $158.95 each | $317.90 |
Subtotal | $599.90 |
HST | $77.98 |
First-month total | $677.88 |
This example assumes all three appointments fall within the same month and no extras are added. A later month with two standard visits at the same rate would total $359.22 including HST. Your dates and confirmed quote determine the actual first-month bill.
Weekly vs. Biweekly Cleaning: Compare the Full Budget
Weekly cleaning means a visit every week. Biweekly cleaning means a visit every two weeks. Both can work, but they create different appointment counts and spending patterns.
Schedule | Typical visits in an annual budget | What to expect |
Weekly | 52 | Most months have four or five visits |
Every two weeks | 26 | Most months have two visits; some have three |
Twice per calendar month | 24 | Two visits each month, with uneven gaps between dates |
Monthly | 12 | One visit each month |
Exact dates can occasionally produce an additional appointment in a calendar year. Check your scheduled visits when setting the annual budget.
Biweekly Is Not the Same as Twice a Month
At $158.95 before HST per visit, two visits cost $359.22 including HST. Three visits cost $538.84.
For an annual budget using 26 visits, the calculation is:
$158.95 × 26 × 1.13 = $4,669.95 per year
Spread across 12 months, that is $389.16 per month on average. Budgeting only $359.22 every month (two visits) would leave you about $359 short over the year, because it accounts for 24 visits rather than 26.
Annual and Monthly Biweekly Budgets
The following calculations use the published standard-cleaning starting rates and assume 26 visits at an unchanged price, with no extras or initial deep clean.
Home type | Annual total with HST | Average monthly budget with HST |
One-bedroom apartment or condo | $4,170.40 | $347.53 |
Two-bedroom home | $4,461.86 | $371.82 |
Three-bedroom home | $5,144.36 | $428.69 |
These are planning calculations, not fixed annual contracts. Your actual spending depends on the agreed rate and visits completed.
Why Weekly Cleaning Can Cost Less per Visit but More Overall
Weekly service is generally priced lower per visit than biweekly service. We confirm the rate based on your home and cleaning requirements.
Here is a hypothetical weekly quote compared with the published two-bedroom biweekly starting rate:
Budget item | Weekly example | Biweekly example |
Price per visit before HST | $149.60, assumed for illustration | $158.95 |
Visits in annual budget | 52 | 26 |
Annual total with HST | $8,790.49 | $4,669.95 |
Average monthly cost with HST | $732.54 | $389.16 |
The weekly example costs less each time, but the additional visits increase the average monthly spending by $343.38 (Including HST). Choose it if the extra maintenance is useful to your household and fits your budget, rather than simply because the individual visit looks cheaper.
Which Cleaning Frequency Fits Your Home?
The right schedule depends on what happens between visits. Consider bathroom and kitchen use, pets, household size and how much routine cleaning you want to handle yourself.
Weekly Cleaning
Weekly visits can suit homes where floors, kitchens and bathrooms need attention quickly. They may be useful for busy family homes, frequent hosting or households that prefer to do less cleaning between appointments.
You will still need to handle daily tasks such as dishes and spills. Recurring cleaning does not make an occupied home maintenance-free.
Biweekly Cleaning
Biweekly visits can work when you want regular help but are comfortable maintaining the home between appointments. Light vacuuming, wiping kitchen surfaces and addressing spills can help keep the property manageable during the two-week gap.
If the home consistently needs extensive catch-up work at each visit, discuss the scope or frequency rather than assuming the same maintenance appointment can absorb more work indefinitely.
Occasional or Monthly Cleaning
Less frequent cleaning can suit a well-maintained home where the occupants already handle most routine tasks. It can also provide occasional support before guests or during a busy period.
If substantial buildup develops between appointments, a monthly maintenance visit may not cover everything you expect. Explain the condition when booking, and consider a separately scoped deep clean when needed.
Our house-cleaning frequency guide explores the practical differences between schedules.
What Changes Your House Cleaning Quote?
Bedroom count helps describe the property, but it is only part of the job. Give the cleaner enough information to understand the layout and condition before agreeing on a price.
Factor | Why it matters | What to share |
Bathrooms | Each adds fixtures and surfaces to clean | Full and half-bathroom count |
Floors and layout | Stairs, basements and extra rooms change the scope | Which levels and rooms are included |
Current condition | Accumulated dirt needs different work from maintenance | Photos of grease, deposits or neglected areas |
Pets | Hair and tracked-in dirt can change the work required | Pets, affected rooms and access arrangements |
Extras | Additional tasks may have separate prices | Appliance interiors, windows or other requests |
Building access | Parking and entry arrangements affect visit planning | Concierge instructions, parking and buzzer details |
For example, “three-bedroom house” could describe a single-level home with one bathroom or a larger property with three bathrooms and a finished basement. Those descriptions should not be expected to produce the same quote automatically.
Ask whether parking or unusual access arrangements affect the total. Do not assume every company handles them the same way.
What Is Included in Standard Cleaning, and What Costs Extra?

A recurring quote should identify the checklist, not simply promise a “full clean.” Ask which surfaces are covered and which tasks need a separate booking or charge.
Routine maintenance commonly covers:
Accessible surface dusting and wiping.
Kitchen counters, sink, stovetop and appliance exteriors.
Bathroom fixtures and surfaces.
Carpet and rug vacuuming.
Hard-floor sweeping and mopping.
Mirrors and bins within the agreed rooms.
Tasks to confirm separately include oven and fridge interiors, cabinet interiors, window panes and tracks, carpet extraction, laundry and organizing. Detailed baseboard cleaning or accumulated buildup may call for a deep clean rather than a standard visit.

Renovation and Moving Require Their Own Scope
Construction dust and paint residue are different from everyday household dirt. If trades have recently finished, request post-construction cleaning.
For a vacant property before possession or key handover, compare move-in cleaning or move-out cleaning.
For published move-out rates and a breakdown of inclusions and extras, see our move-out cleaning cost guide.
Flat-Rate vs. Hourly House Cleaning Prices
Sparkle & Scrub provides flat-rate standard-cleaning quotes. If another provider charges hourly, establish whether the rate is per cleaner, per team or per appointment before comparing it with a fixed price.
An illustrative hourly quote of $50 per cleaner-hour, with two cleaners working for three hours, would be calculated as:
$50 × 2 cleaners × 3 hours = $300 before HST
With Ontario HST, that example totals $339. It is an example calculation, not a quoted market average or a Sparkle & Scrub hourly rate.
For hourly work, ask about minimum hours, the expected total and what happens if the agreed time is not enough. For flat-rate work, ask which tasks are included and which changes require an updated quote.
HST and the Final Amount You Pay
The Canada Revenue Agency lists Ontario’s HST rate as 13%. Sparkle & Scrub’s published starting prices are before HST.
Calculate the total using:
(Cleaning price + taxable extras) × 1.13
You can also use the CRA’s GST/HST calculator. When comparing providers, establish whether their advertised prices include tax so you are comparing the amount actually payable.
How to Keep Your Cleaning Budget Predictable
The most useful savings come from booking a scope that matches your needs. Removing necessary tasks to reach a lower headline price can leave you paying for a service that does not solve the problem.
Separate initial and recurring costs. Budget for any first deep clean independently.
Calculate the annual visit count. Use every-two-week dates rather than assuming two appointments each month.
Add extras deliberately. Ask whether occasional tasks can be scheduled separately from routine visits.
Prepare access and clear surfaces. Help the team reach the agreed areas without expecting them to organize belongings.
Confirm changes in writing. Ask what happens to pricing if you change frequency, add rooms or skip appointments.
Check cancellation and rescheduling terms as well. “No long-term contract” does not necessarily mean every late change is free.

Frequently Asked Questions About House Cleaning Prices
Is Weekly Cleaning Cheaper Than Biweekly Cleaning?
It can be cheaper per visit, but usually costs more across a month or year because there are more appointments. Compare the complete annual budget using the actual quotes for both schedules.
Does Every Home Need a Deep Clean Before Recurring Service?
No. A home with accumulated buildup may need one, while a well-maintained property may be suitable for standard cleaning. Describe the condition and ask which starting service fits.
Is Biweekly Cleaning Exactly Two Visits a Month?
No. Biweekly means every two weeks, usually about 26 visits per year. Twice-monthly cleaning is 24 visits per year. Some months on an every-two-week schedule will contain three appointments.
Do I Have to Sign a Long-Term Contract?
Sparkle & Scrub’s standard-cleaning service is offered without a long-term contract. Confirm the notice required to pause, reschedule or cancel, and whether changing your schedule changes the per-visit price.
