Eventually we make several passes with a damp cloth, wiping down all surfaces, walls, and fixtures.  We finish by mopping the floors on our way out and to the next section of the property.

Once this is complete, we repeat the process, but this time we use a damp micro fibre cloth ensuring all dust particles are removed from all surfaces. This depends on a number of factors including: the size and weight of the dust particle, air movement and humidity.  For example, dry-wall dust averages 3-10 microns in size allowing them to be suspended in air for extended periods of time.

Please note: We use vacuum's with HEPA filters and wipe down processes with speciality materials to remove fine dust particles.

Is it okay to vacuum up drywall dust?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can vacuum drywall dust, but don't use a regular home vacuum. Drywall dust is extremely small and can damage equipment like household vacuums by clogging filters and damaging the motor.  Also, regular home vacuums are not built to capture small drywall dust particles and so they will not get captured in the vacuum.  Instead, the drywall dust will get blown back into the air.

If we have to remove drywall dust, we use a shop vacuum with fine-dust filter bag and HEPA filter.  This ensures we can successfully capture all of the fine drywall dust and it doesn't get lodged back into the air.
